Dave sent me this link this morning, announcing the death of Faye Dancer, the All American Girls Professional Baseball League player who was the inspiration for Madonna's character "All the Way Mae" in A League of Their Own. The story of her life is both amazing and sad.

I just love summer hours. My boss was out today, so I got to plow through a lot of little work that's been piling up, and was out the door by one o'clock. I stopped to get some of the special "fat kitties with hairballs" kibble and picked up some lunch, and trundled home to surf and chat. I'm meeting up with some of the Dead Dotcom girls at Blue Fin in Times Square. I haven't been able to make too many of the reunion events because it's difficult for me to get into Manhattan for dinner on a weeknight, so I'm really happy to get to attend one of these, and to be able to celebrate my marriage with a really fun group of women.

Thankfully, we have no plans whatsoever for this weekend. I need to clean and relax and, well, unpack from the elopement trip. Oh, and sleep. I need to sleep. Hopefully my body will get back on east coast time sometime in the near future. This being wide awake at 1 am thing really sucks rocks.

Still at work. So glad that our summer hours have started and that I only have to work until 12:30 tomorrow.

I promise that I'm going to get that new template up soon. And I'm going to start really writing here again soon. And I'm going to say my new last name without tripping over it.

In the meantime, here's something...interesting for show and tell.

Wow, has it really been nearly a week? Many good things have been afoot up here, not the least of which is the reason I was out of town over the weekend.

Dave and I ran off to Las Vegas and got married on Saturday.

Yes, I know. We had a wonderful time, and it was lovely and small and quiet and romantic and I am incredibly happy.

More details to come, but right now I need to eat. And take some Sudafed. Only I could go to the desert and come home with a head cold.
