Things in my part of the world just seem to have gotten increasingly busy and crazy over the last few weeks. I just looked at my calendar and realized that between the wedding that Dave's in with attendant festivities, hockey, holiday and birthday parties, baby showers and planned trips we've basically got something to do every single weekend between now and the end of the year. Work doesn't seem to have slowed down any for Dave, and things here, although a bit less frantic because of a change in the timeline for a planned product release, are still incredibly hectic. I have no idea how my boss was handling all of this work on his own before I got here, because even with two of us and an absolutely stellar paralegal, we're still swamped.

No news on the house front. The sellers of the duplex came back to us one last time asking for a number that we'd be willing to pay to take on the encroachment responsibility, and we countered by saying that unless the sellers went ahead and got an easement from the railroad, we were no longer playing. They refused, and the house is now back on the market at the same price it was listed for before. I'll be interested to see how that one shakes out. Nothing new on the market, either, which really isn't a surprise, given the time of year. We probably won't see good inventory until after the holidays.

Other than that, status quo. My car, Mavis, is fabulous, although she needs a bath in the worst way. I put my landlady in her place last Friday after she cornered me about the Viacreme, telling her that I had gotten a rash from it and was probably allergic. I don't think she'll be asking again. The noise level from upstairs is still bad, though, and two of our radiators are leaking water, so we're going to have to draft a note to her to address those issues, especially since we can't turn those two heaters on, and it's beginning to finally get cold. It's about time.

I hate the fact that I've had to start putting read-receipts on all of the email I send internally, because one moron keeps pretending that he's not getting my email. I hate, hate, hate read-receipts.

I know that I've bitched a lot about the real estate market in North Jersey, but I totally draw the line at camping out.

Mink Car: Possibly the best TMBG CD ever. I almost drove off the road tonight when I heard "I've Got a Fang" for the first time because I was laughing so hard. Go. Buy. Now.

Reblogger is having issues. I'm investigating BlogBack as an alternative, but the instructions were making my head spin, so I think I may have to consult Dave for assistance.

In the meantime, I've been drafted to find a band for the company Christmas...I mean, holiday party. Silly, silly people to give me such a responsibility. Mwahahahaha. I wonder if They Might Be Giants are available...their Man, It's So Loud in Here is my new favorite tune. And they are coming out with a holiday album in November...

I love it when I go to bed at 10:30 so I can get a full night of rest and then the phone rings at 5:30 am with a work problem for Dave. I couldn't get back to sleep. Ugh.

I had happiness waiting for me when I got home from work today, in the form of a package from CDNow. I've got New Order in the player now, with Garbage and Ben Folds waiting. It's amazing how much joy a few CDs can bring.

Reason Number 347,832,179 why I love my boss: He got me out of an eight-hour training session on Wednesday for human resources software. The training is for hiring managers. I am not a hiring manager.

This weekend, in a nutshell: Steak. Sleep. Newspaper. Game. Hockey. Sleep. Some errands. Sleep.

About to do some laundry and try to finish the Sunday crossword. It's been a weekend of leisure and not feeling very well.
